Keen Observations on Life … Whether You Need Them or Not

the search for the perfect beach house

It’s such a pain in the neck to find a good vacation spot. We love to go to the beach, and try to make it down a couple of times each summer … but I’ll tell ya, by the time we find and book a house, I’m almost ready to throw in the towel.

Three years ago, our good friends (the Noodles) introduced us to a site called Vacation Rental By Owner, and it’s proven to be a terrific resource. But when I win the lottery, I’m buying my own place.

For example, this summer I’d like to go to Wilmington July 5 – 8; I need a house that has three bedrooms, a kitchen, and lets pets tag along. But can I find a mid-week, couple of days only gig? Nope. Irritating. The August week we’re hoping to fill at Emerald Isle is much easier, because we’ll be staying Saturday to Saturday.

But the search sometimes takes all the fun out of the future end reward. In my next life, my mom will have a beach house to inherit or I’ll have best friends who invite us down whenever we want.
