I’m excited to take on a fun new adventure: part-time instructor in the Wake Technical Community College Continuing Education (non-credit) program. Woot!
My first class will be The Business of Writing for Children, and it promises to be lots of fun. In my two decades of life as a professional writer, I’ve just about written for every medium, and every media outlet, there is. If you’re a born storyteller, but have never ventured into the realm of trying to sell your work, this will be a good class for you. I’ve got a TON of lessons-learned to share, and we’ll be discussing topics like figuring out your audience, where ideas come from, creating memorable characters, the publishing process, and preparing and marketing your work. It’ll be a quick eight weeks when it’s all said and done, and who knows … maybe we’ll ALL have new manuscripts ready to submit by the holidays.
No matter where you are in your journey as an author, there’s always something new to learn. So spread the word, and check out Wake Tech’s Continuing Education courses. They’re fun, and with none of the pressure of grades hovering overhead, you’re free to stretch your wings and soar! We may even have special guests … and cookies. 🙂
